Matahari tinggal menyisakan sedikit sinarnya sore ini, saat trend sr biru putih melaju  di depan rumah dinas Kapolri, Jendral Sutanto. Sambil melaju, dia berdendang –atau lebih tepatnya mengerang– menyanyikan lagu-lagu lama yang diingatnya. Udara hangat seperti biasa, agak panas sebenarnya karena jaket abu metaliknya tidak menjadikan udara luar keluar masuk dengan leluasa.

Lagu-lagu lama jaman sekolah menengahnya, lebih dari 10 tahun dulu. Lagu yang memfasilitasi pemberontakan jiwanya. Seingat saya, lagu-lagu grup yang bernama Rage Against The Machine memang bisa memfasilitasi itu.

Di depan masjid Al-Falah, lagu yang dia dendangkan berganti.

Lagu ini seringkali membuat matanya panas, bahkan hingga mengeluarkan air mata. Saya rasa bukan karena matanya terkena debu jalan yang belum disapu malam itu, tetapi karena dia tidak meng apresiasi lagu itu sesuai dengan tujuan Eric Clapton saat menuliskannya.

“Wonderful Tonight” is a song written by Eric Clapton about his then-love, Pattie Boyd. It was included on Clapton’s 1977 album Slowhand and released as a single the following year.

While generally regarded as a romantic song, “Wonderful Tonight”’s genesis was less than starry-eyed lyricism. Clapton’s inspiration came as he grew impatient for Boyd to finish dressing for a party. In that regard, the lyric “You look wonderful tonight” could be interpreted less as a heartfelt compliment and more as a prod to be finished getting dressed. Nevertheless, the subsequent lyrics grow more patient and loving.

The song is a narrative, dealing with a party the pair attended. Each of the three verses is a scene from a part of the night: preparing for the party, going to the party, and coming home from the party. In each scene, he mentions how wonderful she is: how beautiful she looks while preparing for the party, how happy he is to be at the party with her, and how grateful he is that she puts up with him after he drinks a bit too much.

Dia membayangkannya lirik lagu itu adalah cerita mengenai dirinya pergi ke suatu pesta bersama dengan anak bungsunya yang perempuan. Mungkin 15 atau 20 tahun nanti.

Lampu billboard lambang kantor saya telah terlihat dari kejauhan. Terlihat megah dengan pantulan lampu kebiruan. Laju motor saya menyerong ke kiri untuk kemudian berputar hampir 180 derajat melewati kolong fly over, dan langsung mengambil posisi ke sebelah kiri. Malam ini saya ingin mengingat kembali lagu-lagu saya. Lagu-lagu yang ternyata mempengaruhi saya.
